Camborne……… 31
Hornets…………..26
CAMBORNE produced some ferocious defence to ensure there was no sting in the tail of their clash with Hornets.
Camborne were guilty of some sloppy play in their own half early on in the game, leading to a Hornets try by Hayden Tuttiett, bettered by Jamie Elswood.
Despite having a player in the sin-bin, Camborne gave a quick riposte with the mercurial Alex Ducker weaving his magic to bamboozle the Hornets defence and dot down, George Edson adding the conversion.
The Hornets then struck twice in quick succession with tries from Callum Lane and Courtney Harris, with Elswood chipping in with a conversion before having to leave the field with an injury.
Camborne then had their best period of the game, scoring three tries. Jack Davis went over in spectacular style in the corner, before Connor Gilbert burst through to dot down under the posts and prop Jon Drew skilfully picked up a charge down to rumble over. Edson added a couple of conversions.
Playing down the slope in the second half, Camborne started with a fifth try from the impressive Jago Sheppard.
Kieron Ward’s try gave Hornets a couple of bonus points, but Camborne’s defence held out for the win.
