AN INSPIRED second half helped Sedgley Park come from 22-12 down to beat Chester.

Tries from Thomas Coe, Matthew Riley and Jonathan Matthews, as well as a brace for Andrew Riley were enough to secure the win for the hosts, despite Chester threatening a comeback with a late Harrison Vare try.

It was Chester who started the brighter with Callum Bennett kicking a penalty before scoring the opening try of the match six minutes later – with the fly-half adding the conversion as well.

The visitors had their second try five minutes later as flanker Michael Craven was on hand to force his way over from a lineout drive.

The hosts rallied and hit back through openside flanker Coe from a maul of their own on 19 minutes before centre Riley closed the gap even more with a try on 27 minutes but Chester had the final say of the half as winger Vare capitalised on an error to score.

The second half saw Sedgley Park come out like a team possessed, as wing Riley grabbed a brace in the space of three minutes to put the hosts in front before Matthews scored.

Vare crossed for his second try but it could only salvage a losing bonus point for Chester.
