Canterbury…………..42 Dorking…………………35
CANTERBURY roared back against Dorking to edge an enthralling encounter.
Initially, proceedings started steadily as Frank Reynolds kicked two penalties for a six-point Canterbury lead.
That increased to 13 when Frank Morgan scored the first try, Reynolds converting.
Dorking retaliated as Jasper King crossed, with Henry Anscombe adding the extras.
Canterbury struck back through another seven-pointer, courtesy of Aiden Moss. But Dorking then enjoyed their strongest spell, either side of half-time.
Firstly, Callum Watson wriggled his way over, before Max Coyle, evaded Canterbury’s tackles to dive over. Anscombe’s continued accuracy ensured an additional four points.
Then, before Canterbury had drawn breath, Dorking hit the bonus point with Bryan Hotston finishing.
The trio of tries left Canterbury playing catch-up: Reynolds’ third penalty and Harry Sloan’s try, converted, restored their lead.
Dorking didn’t let Canterbury celebrate, with Anscombe bursting through for his own try which he converted.
Canterbury, though, came again with two late tries from Tyler Oliver and Eoin O’Donoghue to seal the win.
