Bury St Edmunds marked Yasin Browne's 100th appearance for the club with victory over Westcliff.

Westcliff enjoyed the best of the early encounters until play was halted after five minutes by an injury to referee Peter Caunt who was able to continue after extensive treatment from the physios.

But it was Bury who opened the scoring when Charlie Reed and William Affleck combined for skipper Matt Bursey to score, Reed adding the conversion.

West replied when fly-half Greg Bannister converted his own try.

Bury regained the lead when Reed and Affleck combined again Affleck, the latter scoring in the corner.

The pair were soon at it again when Reed chipped for Affleck to score and Reed converted to make it 19-7.

Patrick Robinson's try extended the lead after the break but West were back in it with tries from Jack Hoggarth and James Rea.

George Grigg-Pettit's try kept Bury's noses in front and a further score by Samir Kharbouch made it more comfortable.

The last five minutes were one-way traffic for West, they laid siege to the Bury line and when two Bury players were binnedJames Smith got the final try.
