Dings Crusaders…53
Rochford Hund…….32
DINGS roared to a resounding victory at windswept Shaftesbury Park.
The home side played some fantastic rugby in attack, crossing for ninetries but the visitors played their part in an entertaining contest, scoring five tries of their own to claim a try bonus-point. The visitors opened the scoring with a penalty from full-back Chris Dudman, but Crusaders hit back with the first of two tries from Olly Bilton, who had an outstanding game in the second-row.
Centre Luke Arscott added a second try, with fly-half Tom Price adding the extras. Rochford scored their first-try through No.8 Maciu Nabogi, Dudman converting.
But Crusaders had the try bonus-point in the bag by the interval thanks to tries from wing Harry Rowson and flanker Buster Lawrence. Flanker Harry Hudson crossed in between to make it 22-15 at the turn.
The second-half continued to be a free-flowing affair, with Hudson grabbing his second try on 42 minutes to make it 22-20.
Dings were awarded a penalty-try after scrumhalf Tom Knight was stopped short from a quick tap. Dings increased their lead with a long range try finished by full-back Hugo Harbinson, but the visitors hit back with a converted try from Wouter Roters.
Price crossed for a try he converted before prop Aston Bevans-Royston went over.
But the home side wrapped up the contest with further tries from centre Matty Smith and Bilton’s second of the day.
