LEICESTER Lions were grateful to the boot of Benjamin Young as they earned a narrow win over Barnstaple.
Young kicked four penalties for the visitors, including the vital score that put the Lions in front in a tense closing quarter.
Barnstaple had earlier put the visitors under early pressure, earning themselves a penalty. They drove over from the resulting line-out, with Dan Lee coming up with the try that Jake Murphy converted.
