PAT Lam is looking to use the character his players showed in the last 20 minutes to get their play-off assault back on course.
The Bears conceded 59 points in as many minutes, but scored two tries without reply in the final quarter to give the scoreline a modicum of respectability.
“It is a disappointing result,” DoR Lam said. “We started really well but having talked all week about giving them nothing for free, we gave them plenty. Their first four tries came from our errors, but we stayed in the fight and scored two at the end. We said at half-time to forget what had just happened and take it to them. In the end, we made too many mistakes and got punished, but I am proud of the character the boys showed. The last three games have not gone the way we wanted, but we have a couple of weeks to reset before we play Gloucester.”

Toulouse face the winners of today’s clash with Bordeaux-Begles and Leicester in the quarter-final. “We knew Bristol would chuck the ball around but this club is built on big games,” said their Scotland back Blair Kinghorn.
