Fraser Dingwall takes the armband at Prem champions Northampton Saints

Fraser Dingwall has been named Northampton Saints captain for the new season, with Phil Dowson backing the England centre to lead the Premiership champions into their next chapter.

Prem champions Northampton Saints have appointed Fraser Dingwall as club captain following George Furbank’s move to Harlequins.

Dingwall, 27 – who joined Saints’ academy aged 13 and has made more than 150 senior appearances – becomes the club’s 69th captain since their formation in 1880.
“When you look at the list of players who’ve done it before, it’s incredibly special to be part of that group,” said the 10-cap England centre.
