Saracens’ Charlie Bracken is climbing up England’s scrum-half ranks and credits a stint in the Championship as being the crucial step in his progression.
The Saracen, son of 2003 World Cup winner Kyran, played nearly 30 games for Ampthill in English rugby’s second tier over the last two seasons where he was one of a few from his club targeted for special treatment.

Ampthill has proved to be a decent proving ground for Saracens youngsters over the last few campaigns with the likes of Noah Caluori, Nathan Michelow, Tobias Elliott and Olly Hartley gaining valuable experience at that level.
