Pat Lam expects Kyle Sinckler to be named in the England squad tomorrow after the prop went on the rampage at Kingsholm.
Sinckler, who missed England's tour to Australia because of injury, made 46 metres from 13 carries, more than any other forward with Ellis Genge not far behind on 32 metres.
“Kyle was disappointed with his performance at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago and apologised for it,” said Bristol director of rugby Lam. “I will be surprised if he is not in the England squad. He has shown in his last couple of games he's back to his best.
“We got our attacking shape wrong against Exeter last week but it was much better today and we were able to use Kyle and Ellis properly – but conceding too many turnovers made it an ultimately frustrating afternoon.”
Gloucester's win took them above Bristol to fourth in the table and head coach George Skivington said: “I am proud of the doggedness of this team. We are digging ourselves out of holes and winning games that have gone the other way in the past. We did not fire to the level we are used to and will be working on that.”
