Paul Deacon says becoming a head coach is next step in his career

PAUL Deacon admitted he still had “no idea” how long he would remain in charge of after masterminding another win.

He said: “I've still no idea – you'll have to ask the owners about that.

“I'm enjoying it and you always sleep better when you win. I think becoming head coach is the next step in my career. That's why I'm enjoying this so much.

“There is more pressure to it, but it's something I'm relishing and hopefully the lads are enjoying my leadership style and where we're going with the club. What we had before was working – we're just trying to build on that.”

trio Melani Nanai, Billy Searle and Ollie Lawrence missed the game through injury and newly-promoted head coach Jonathan Thomas said: “Melani is going to be out for a little while. He has torn his hamstring. We have to wait and see what the damage is.”

Thomas added that injuries to Searle (calf) and Lawrence (shoulder) were “nothing serious” and more precautionary than anything else.
