Shrinking gates should be a worry for the regions

THE PRO14’s decision to take the money and put their competition behind a pay wall meant their audience was always going to shrink. For the Welsh regions that shrinkage has plumbed new depths.
The aggregate average attendance for the four teams stands at 26,697 – fewer than watch Cardiff City in the Premier League. More ominously for the Blues, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets, their crowds are down on last season by a collective figure of more than 5,000.
