MERTHYRbounced back from an early setback as they outclassed Cross Keys.
The home side’s opening try came in the fifth minute with full-back Leon Andrews touched down under the posts, Josh Prosser converting.
Matthew Jarvis kicked three points in response, before prop Nathan Trevett crossed for the visitors.
Merthyr then made the most of an attacking penalty, hooker Matthew Dwyer going over.
A nicely judged chip from scrum half Justin James just before the break was gratefully dived on by wing Stef Andrews to give Merthyr their third try and make the half-time score 24–7.
