When Lewis made history for the Lions

At home in his adopted Yorkshire the other day, Lewis Jones answered the phone with a cheerful response to being wished a happy birthday.
“How old am I now, lad?” he said. “Ninety-odd, I think...”
The sole survivor of the first post-war Lions tour in 1950 turned 92 last Tuesday and sounded in celebratory mood. “Just on my way out, lad, for a bite to eat and a pint,” he said. “Nothing fancy. It’s nice to be remembered after all this time.’’
