WATCHING England now is the most frustrating thing in the world. I want them to do well, but it does not look promising when a lot of the players are playing worse for England than they do for their clubs.
It’s almost as if this squad is being asked to play in a way they do not for their clubs, and are undertaking roles that are unfamiliar. Why, for example, is Maro Itoje no longer challenging and jackaling for the ball in the way he used to for Saracens, and England?
