With the World Cup finally over and an outcome that was half expected but many were hoping would be wrong, once again the southern hemisphere giants took the plaudits with a truly competitive final that could have gone either way.
England receiving the bronze medal for coming third after beating Argentina for the second time in this contest at least gave us something to remember this World Cup for, but the team didn’t achieve that special game on the pitch that would have been etched in our memories.
