I can't help thinking the disappointment that is currently being felt by England fans is probably one of surprise rather than what we had expected. The result of last week’s semi-final followed the pattern that, in truth, we all expected with New Zealand first cruising past Argentina by a massive 44 points to six.
Then South Africa beating England, even though England almost pulled off the least likely result and raised false hopes as the game progressed. It wasn’t that England were playing wonderful rugby and taking the game to the South Africans...
