I WAS a little puzzled when I read Danny Care and Rob Baxter’s reaction to fans being allowed back into the game, even in reduced numbers and how it was for them a special moment.
When I played at the many levels of the game my long career encompassed, it never concerned me whether there were people watching or not, so for me there was no difference in playing at a 75,000 capacity full Twickenham stadium or for Ilford Wanderers on a council pitch in Valentines Park watched by two men and a dog.
Sport is not about the fans, it’s about the competition between equals or you against yourself ...
