Imagine being a French rugby international in the tumultuous decade between 1971 and 1981.

Huge Five Nations clashes every year, not least against rampaging all conquering Wales, followed by epic games against New Zealand and Australia.
And then consider also the legendary volatility of the French selectors throughout this period, while also factoring in the incredible demands of the French club season and the toll it put on battered bodies.
Given all that, can we offer up a standing ovation and bravo to Roland Bertranne, who passed away last week aged 75.
