Like all of you out there, I have endless sympathy for the players caught up in the meltdown currently being enacted at Worcester and Wasps and, yes, I do accept that Covid came at a bad time for club rugby and has made life very tricky. It’s been a right bastard.
But let’s not fool ourselves that the Premiership, financially, was anything other than a financial basket case long before Covid, after decades of mismanagement.
