Dream Team: Rob Cook – Gloucester full-back

Rob Cook.1. Alan Paver – He’s been around for so long, he knows scrummaging inside out. He’s a good little man to have on the pitch.
2. Dave Ward – He’s immense. Good around the park, both with the ball in hand and also I’ve never seen anyone turn over the ball as much as him. It’s like having another back rower.
3. Carl Rimmer – Such a rock in the scrum. He’s got a massive engine and like Paver can play both sides of the scrum.
4. Jim Hamilton – He’s a great leader of men and encourages other guys really well. He’s physical in the lineout and he grafts all the time. It’s no surprise he’s won nearly 50 Scotland caps.
5. Laurie McGlone – He’s just a massive guy and he’s basically an engine. He’s just what a team needs; he’ll make his tackles, carry well and just keep going and going.
6. Tom Savage – He’s one for the future. He’s already captained a couple of times. He’s a young lad who breathes rugby day in day out and has versatility to play second row as well.
7. Sam Betty – An absolute grafter – that’s the main thing. You know what you’re getting from him all the time. He’ll never give up and he’ll back you up whatever.
8. Sione Kalamafoni – He’s a big brute of a guy and is just so hard to stop once he’s got going. He’s a quiet guy off the pitch but when he gets on it he comes to life and just loves carrying and tackling as hard as he can.
9. Gavin Cattle – Edges out Dan Robson but I’ve gone with Gav because he’s such a good leader. He bosses forwards really well and is very consistent. Has good passing and kicking skills and scores the odd try.
10. Jonny Bentley – He’s probably the best No.10 I’ve played with. A small guy but he puts in massive performances. He makes his tackles and is a very clever player.
11. James Simpson-Daniel – I haven’t played with him much but he’s probably one of the most gifted and natural players I’ve ever seen. He makes things happen out of nothing, he sets up and finishes tries very frequently.
12. Steve Winn – He’s an awesome guy to have around the team. He never makes a mistake defensively, just a very solid, no-frills player who was the basis for the Pirates defence.
13. Matt Hopper – He complimented ‘Winny’ really well. Solid defensively but he added a little bit more in attack. His crazy few offloads didn’t always work but he’s good to play with.
14. Jonny May – He can finish anything if you give him a bit of space. I’d back him to beat anyone with his electric pace and good feet. The kind of man you want on the wing.
15. Luke Arscott – He’s solid defensively, has a good eye for a break and is also a fine kicker out of hand. I’ve played against him in the Championship and the Premiership and he’s always impressed.
