Eddie was the true voice of Six Nations

Like everyone else in Wales, I was extremely shocked and saddened upon hearing the legendary Eddie Butler had passed away.

Eddie was a unique character, and a tremendous servant to Welsh rugby as a player, broadcaster, and as a journalist.

He was quite literally the voice of Welsh rugby, and his voice was synonymous with some of the most iconic moments in Six Nations history. Whereas Bill McLaren and Cliff Morgan were the voices of the old Five Nations Eddie was the true voice of the Six Nations.

When my grandchildren look back at my career in years to come, they’ll hear Eddie’s voice. He was so passionate about Welsh rugby, and he will be deeply missed by the whole rugby community. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.
