ON a damp dark day in December it was the Elthamian backs that destroyed Blackheath. In the reverse fixture on a sunny afternoon perfect for running rugby, it was the Club front row who ensured honours were even.
Hayden King, Matt Miles, Danny Herriott, and, later, Mike Perks were outstanding in the scrum, setting the platform for one of Blackheath’s three firsthalf tries before winning the three penalties in the second period that stretched what had become a narrow lead into a winning one.
