“Don’t write me off yet,” says Wales scrum-half Dwayne Peel

Dwayne PeelDwayne Peel, frozen out of international rugby for the last 18 months, starts the new season with a defiant message for : “I’m not finished yet.”

Wales may appear to have quit on their most-capped scrum-half but Peel is definitely not quitting on them despite having gone three years since his last start.
“I haven’t given up hope,” he says. “This will be a big season for me and it’s up to me to make the most of it.   It’s all about playing well for and if I do that, then I can force my way back into the Wales squad.
“If I don’t get back in this season, then it will be very hard to get back at all.  I’m 31 next week and I’m desperate to play for Wales again.”
Peel, an automatic choice for six years after his debut as a 20-year-old student, has spent most of his time on the outside looking in since transferring from the to Sale four years ago.
He went with the blessing of the WRU because their preferred policy of picking home-based players had been drawn up after their No.9 had finalised his cross-border move.
