Ruthless Caldy a cut above Lucs

CALDY consolidated their promotion hopes with a well-deserved victory against a Luctonians side who offered plenty and played much of the game in Caldy territory.

Caldy were ahead as early as the first minute when Tom Banks found a gap in Luctoians' defence to score from close in, Jack Lavin adding the extras.

The away side twice added to their score, Gavin Roberts and Dan Salisbury both going over to give the visitors a 17- point lead, before Lucs scored their solitary try through Louis Silver, to reduce the arrears to 17-5.

However, Caldy showed their promotion credentials in the second half with their back-line exploiting gaps in Lucs' defence.

Jack Collister's try on 48 minutes came from a rolling maul, and both John Weir and Forbes Edwards added scores of their own. Both Forbes and Weir's tries came as a result of excellent handling and back line interplay.

Lucs will be disappointed that they did not add to their score and may feel they deserved more from the game.

No.8 Sam Jones had an excellent game for the home side, as did Tom Sanders for Caldy, who also saw yellow late into the game for a technical offence, but was a menace to the hosts throughout.
