Premiership Rugby and the Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR) have confirmed the new European Cup will be called the Champions Cup.
The new competition will be open to teams from all three leagues in Europe and qualification will be based on merit which is one of the main reasons English and French clubs decided to leave the current Heineken Cup.
Clubs from both nations have already confirmed their participation in the new competition.
A statement released from Premiership Rugby said more information about the new competiton will be released next month.
