Rugby stars deliver ‘Number Cruncherz’ scheme to young people

have teamed up with UK credit card lender MBNA and PFEG to launch a brand-new scheme that uses rugby-themed activities to teach money management to 11 and 12 year olds
The ‘Number Cruncherz' programme which was launched at the AJ Bell stadium last Thursday by players including former internationals Mark Cueto and Hendre Fourie and ' Michael Paterson, will take 50 local school children through the programme
Developed for Year 7 children with the help of MBNA and the UK's leading financial education charity PFEG (Personal Finance Education Group), the scheme will help thousands of young people across the North West and North to develop key financial literacy skills.
From September, financial education will form a critical part of the compulsory national curriculum in England for 11-16 year olds.
Each school taking part in Number Cruncherz will get to spend a full day at Sale Sharks' home stadium in Salford to complete the programme. The structure of the sessions has been broken down into four parts, with children learning about income and expenditure; balancing needs and wants; budgeting; and how to make sensible financial decisions.
