Olly Robinson’s got work cut out to impress dad

Olly RobinsonOlly Robinson admits working for dad, Andy, means he must work ten times harder to win a first team place at .
He faces the additional challenge of forcing his way past established internationals Ross Rennie and the exciting Jack Lam.
But the opportunity to hop aboard Bristol's promotion bandwagon after leaving Moseley was still impossible to resist.
Robinson, 23, a back-row forward like his father, told The Rugby Paper: “Playing week-in, week-out at Moseley was great but it's the right time for me to come into a full-time environment now and the professionalism at Bristol is outstanding.
“It's not the easy option by any means and there were other offers, but I was really enthused by what Bristol are doing.
“Ross Rennie and Jack Lam are here, but what better place to learn than alongside two of the best opensides in the world?
They're going to need time out and hopefully I'll get opportunities, but I've already learned more than I'd dreamed of.
“It's a week-by-week process; I'll support them and then come in whenever I'm needed and give it my best shot.
“But I'm not the sort who's happy sitting on the bench so, although he's my dad, I'll definitely be in the coach's ear!”
The Robinsons are the latest of the father/son combos – a list that includes Andy and with , 's Mike and and, at , Jim and Harry Mallinder.
But there will be no nepotism at Bristol, according to Olly, who insists: “I'm going to have to work ten times harder to play.
“It's a bit different for me because the Farrells and Fords are first choices, whereas I'm up against two outstanding players.
“Working with your dad comes with positives and negatives, but it's nice to be with him so I can give him stick here as well!”
Promotion is Bristol's aim after last season's failure, Olly adding: “Dad didn't say much after that and you felt his pain.
“But you take it on the chin and we'll give it our best shot this year.”
