I UNDERSTAND that it’s important for England to have a settled coaching panel going into the World Cup but offering coach Steve Borthwick a deal beyond that could end up costing the Union. Should England fail to deliver in Australia, the RFU will have no choice but to seek an alternative.
I like Borthwick. He come across as a good man who genuinely cares and and I hope they do win it, but there is much to improve on in the next 12 months. He has had some memorable victories but there has been little overall progression in his five years in charge.
