Counties in need of support

CORNWALL thrashed Kent 73-14 in the Bill Beaumont Division One section of the County Championship in May. With only two teams in their group, there was little interest in the return fixture in Kent last week. In a county with more clubs and players than most, the crowd was just 258.
Many other counties had just two games in total. It is as if the RFU doesn’t want senior county rugby to thrive, but lacks the courage to either give it a decent format, or scrap it.
