Bristol’s try bonus point ‘a nonsense’

BRENDAN Gallagher, in his report of the Saints v Bears game, rightly remarked on the nonsense of Bristol earning a bonus point despite the humiliation of conceding 94 points.
The purpose of the bonus point system should be to award a winning team one for a convincing victory and a losing team one for a narrow defeat. As Brendan said, the Premiership needs to adopt the Top 14 method of only awarding a try bonus point to a side scoring at least three tries more than their opponents.
