How can coaches be so optimistic?

I KNOW untimely injuries have not been helpful but what a disappointing showing over all three games (and quite a few at the World Cup too), by our England team. How can Steve Borthwick, Richard Wigglesworth and company appear so optimistic when they kick so much ‘good ball’ away? The backs have so little opportunity to run with ball in hand it is no wonder we appear unable to threaten to score tries and put opponents under sustained pressure.
