ED Griffiths’ constructive report contains many positive recommendations, not least his proposals for future academies.
However I am not convinced that expanding the Championship is the right approach. As an alternative I would reduce the league to eight teams identifying those clubs who have aspirations to the Premiership and have the capability to satisfy stringent criteria in order to compete at that level.
The criteria would cover 1) Realistic business model; 2) Potential for growth; 3) Fan base; 4) Infrastructure.
