COLCHESTER edged a thrilling match as they survived a brave comeback from Guernsey to emerge victorious.
The visitors had the perfect launching pad for a win when they raced into a 19-0lead, the tries coming from lHaydn Sykes’s brace and Ross Taylor. Fly-half Gabe Jones cemented an impressive start by converting two.
Guernsey rallied with two tries of their own, with first Jonathan Hawe and then Tom Ceillam cutting the deficit to just seven at the break.
