LEICESTER Tigers have brought in Craig Childs and Rod Seib into their senior coaching set-up for next season.
The pair will replace the outgoing Brett Deacon and Peter Hewat, with Childs leading the defence coaching team and Seib taking charge of attack.
Seib, who coached alongside Parling with Australia ‘A’, joins from Connacht having previously worled at Brumbies, while Childs will make the move from the Stormers in South Africa.
“After speaking to multiple players and coaches about Craig, and meeting him when we played in Cape Town, I’m sure he’ll have a positive impact at Tigers,” head coach Geoff Parling said.
“We’re excited to welcome Rod to Tigers; he’s an excellent coach who will add real value to what we do,” Parling added. “I worked with him at Australia ‘A’ where I saw someone who brought detail, innovation and was excellent at improving the individual.”
Deacon, who made 135 appearances as a player for the Tigers, is to join Gloucester as their forwards coach while Hewat will become attack coach at Queensland Reds.
Australia fly-half James O’Connor and fellow Wallabies back Izaia Perese, are leaving the club at the end of the season.
O’Connor, 35, has been at Welford Road since September when he joined Tigers for a third spell in England from New Zealand side Crusaders. Centre Perese, 28, joined for the start of the 2024-25 from Waratahs. He has scored 11 tries in 28 games for Leicester.
Lock Harry Wells, 32, is also leaving Tigers after 13 years at the club.
