Growing injury list worries Gilmore

HARLEQUINS head coach Jason Gilmore fears he will struggle to get a team together for next weekend’s Prem clash with Sale as his side’s injury nightmare continued. With the four more casualties they picked up at The Rec the Londoners have more than 30 players out with five rounds of the league left.

He said: “Piecing that together is going to be more difficult next week and losing both your starting wingers in the first 25 minutes is not ideal. Then losing Jarrod, we had to cobble together a back line. It is difficult times in terms of the depth of our squad. We are starting to get a bit lean on troops.

“When you don’t have your full squad available it is the quality of training that are probably just lacking that bit of intensity.”

Bath boss Johann van Graan admitted his side were off colour – but was happy they got the job done. He said: “We scored 48 points but it certainly was not the best performance of our season. But we came for five points and we got five.”
