Limit role of the TMO

AMONG the highs and lows of last Saturday’s France-England clash was yet again the calling into question of the referee/TMO relationship. Whatever the benefits, the TMO has undermined the referee’s authority on the pitch. If the TMO role is to continue there must a tighter definition of their responsibilities. I feel the TMO should only be involved in two areas: incidents involving physically foul play, and adjudication on the whether a try has been legitimately scored or not at the moment of touchdown, not the build up.
