Chris Hewett: Glad we were spared Gianni Infantino’s sycophancy
Just for once, we must congratulate World Rugby on getting it right. Their staging of the pool draw for the next global gathering may have been less celebrity-heavy and red-carpeted than the football version – as there is barely enough money in the game to keep the executive board in business class flights, the event was probably staged on a roll of second-hand lino – but we were at least spared the sledgehammer irony of Eben Etzebeth receiving a “peace prize”, together with a cheap medal on a lanyard and a paean of piffle masquerading as a citation.
