The R360 plan is a disruption, but the good thing about disruptions is that they cause conversations, and it’s always good for rugby union to take stock of where it is.
The old adage that “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” is fine if everything is ticking along successfully, but rugby union in England and Wales is on its knees financially, even though the Premiership is good to watch.
When you get the first headline that the top 40 players will be paid £1m it grabs people’s attention, although, inevitably, the next question is how much will the remaining 240 players be paid?
