1. Boris Wenger (Dogos)

The all-action loosehead continues to go from strength to strength and it seems like only a matter of time before he finds himself in Felipe Contepomi’s plans. Regularly playing 70+ minutes, Wenger was a shoo-in for selection this season.

2. Leonel Oviedo (Dogos)

Oviedo joins his teammate Wenger in the front row after a superb campaign. Many thought Dogos would miss former hooker Tomas Bartolini after his move to Tarucas but Oviedo has stepped up brilliantly.

3. Tomas Rapetti (Pampas)

Despite strong competition from Fransisco Moreno, Rapetti’s extra work around the park means he edges selection. The tighthead has provided a crucial platform for the side’s expansive style.

4. Felipe Aliaga (Peñarol)

Felipe Aliaga (Peñarol): Put simply, when Aliaga plays, Peñarol look better. The second row gets through an enormous amount of work and also provides a valuable ball carrying option.

5. Lucas Sommer (Yacare)

The 27-year-old has been consistently excellent all season, especially in the matches when his regular partner and Yacare captain has been unavailable through injury.

6. Lucas Bianchi (Peñarol)

It is a testament to the performances of Selknam’s Clemente Saavedra and Martín Sigren that both of them were contenders despite only playing half a season each. In the end, Bianchi’s versatility and consistency sees his sneak in.

7. Raimundo Martínez (Selknam)

The easiest selection of all – Martínez has been phenomenal this season, whether deployed at hooker or his preferred position. He has been a key part of Selknam’s remarkable run to the playoffs and will likely prove crucial if they are to reach the .

8. Joaquín Milesi (Selknam)

There several standout candidates for the number eight position, but Milesi gets in on account of his tireless work rate. He is always a willing carrier of the ball and stepped up after the season-ending injury to Sigren.

9. Simón Benítez Cruz (Tarucas)

Marcelo Torrealba was a contender before his ACL injury but Cruz more than deserves his spot after an outstanding campaign. The experienced campaigner has marshalled the new franchise superbly.

10. Felipe Etcheverry (Peñarol)

Juan Baronio, Nicolas Roger, and Joaquín Lamas can all feel unlucky after excellent seasons but the returning Etcheverry has transformed Peñarol’s attack and they well go on to win the title in the coming weeks.

11. Lautaro Cipriani (Dogos)

The winger has been a revelation for Dogos this season, adding a cutting edge to the team to complement their power up front. Felipe Contepomi will surely be taking a close look at the 22-year old.

12. Justo Piccardo (Pampas)

Valentino DiCapua’s performances for Yacare were highly impressive but Piccardo’s class and ability to provide big moments when his team needs them get him in the side.

13. Tomas Medina (Tarucas)

The 20-year-old was a revelation this season and is brimming with confidence. Yacare’s Amarilla was excellent as ever but Medina’s extra flair in attack gets him in the side.

14. Juan González (Yacare)

The Paraguayan side were involved in plenty of high scoring games this season and nobody was happier than their winger. His eye for the line gets him in, ahead of the likes of Mateo Pasquini, who has a big future ahead of him.

15. Stefano Ferro (Tarucas)

Tarucas’ third player in the side is testament to their great debut season. Ferro has been solid in the backfield and always ready to get involved in attack – his influence has only grown as the season has gone on.

Head Coach – Jake Mangin (Selknam)

The New Zealander has struck gold in recent weeks, with his Selknam team putting together a stunning series of wins to force their way into the playoffs.

Should the Chilean side go all the way, it would be a phenomenal achievement given their position just a few weeks ago.
