SALE have signed Sharks lock Hyron Andrews on a short-term deal until the end of the season. The 28-year-old South African joins from the Sharks as cover for Jonny Hill after he suffered a season-ending injury in the defeat by La Rochelle in January.
Andrews could make his competitive debut against Bath on Sunday.
Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson said: Hyron is a superb athlete and a great player who we believe has been underrated and overshadowed over a few years due to the strength-in-depth and quality that in exists in the second row within the South African system.
“He pairs his prowess in the line out with a mobility around the park that will dovetail with the physicality we already have in our back five. We are lucky to recruit Hyron in his pomp at 28 years old.”
Sale fly-half Tom Curtis has signed a new deal until 2027. The former England Under-18 international, 22, has made 13 appearances for Sale this season.
Curtis, the son of former Manchester United footballer John, has had loans at Sale FC, Nottingham and Coventry.
