Scotland in pursuit of England lock Coles

England lock Alex Coles, in the last year of his contract, is at the centre of a frantic tug-of-war between Northampton Saints and the Scottish Rugby Union.
Cambridge-born Coles, the son of two vicars, joined Saints when he was 14 and is closing in on 100 appearances for the Franklin’s Gardens outfit, which could come in the East Midlands derby next weekend.
He is out of contract in June, and his Six Nations and World Cup snub from Steve Borthwick hasn’t gone unnoticed north of the border at Murrayfield by SRU talent scouts.
