Ospreys are the Welsh region that Ealing Trailfinders have sounded out about a potential merger that would see them swap the Championship for the United Rugby Championship.
The Championship leaders began talks with the Ospreys about a potential move to the WRU long before the RFU blocked any chances of promotion to the Premiership next season. Ealing, who were planning to take legal action against the RFU if they were stopped from moving into the top flight, are serious about the merger idea.
