CLIFTON edged out Loughborough Students in a tight and physical contest in which either side could have snatched the win.
Clifton started well, which was a trademark of theirs last year, with Fin Sharp opening his account after two minutes.
Loughborough hit back almost immediately as Nathan Langdon went under the posts from a set-piece. Malone added the extras.
