LEAGUE debutants Exeter University made a winning start as they got the better of hosts Barnstaple in a closely-fought match that went all the way to the final whistle.
The sides battled to find their feet in tough conditions, but then the men in green dotted down after a string of dominant forward carries were followed by a brilliant misspass from Josh Barton to set up George Davis in the corner.
