Flanagan takes the reins at Dragons

THE have appointed backs coach Dai Flanagan as the new head coach, as part of a revamped coaching structure under director of rugby Dean Ryan.

Dragons also confirmed backs coach Gordon Ross has left his role.

“I'm excited to be joining Dragons and putting my mark on the team and how we play,” said 26-year-old Flanagan.

“I'm keen to build on the foundations that have been put in place and enhance and develop our performances.

“I've been involved with Scarlets for eight years in several roles, including heading up the coaching team when the opportunity arose, so I leave with memories of an unbelievable rugby journey.”

Scarlets have been linked with a move to bring assistant coach Gareth Williams into Dwayne Peel's coaching set-up next season.

Williams has travelled to as part of 's backroom staff for the three-Test series.

Williams has been involved in negotiations with Scarlets about joining Peel's backroom team but no deal has officially been agreed yet.

Williams was appointed as a Wales assistant coach in June 2021 after moving into the role full-time from his previous position as the WRU head of transitional players and head coach of Wales U20s.
