Basement boys Scotland stand in way of Irish Slam

v Today. Kick-off 5pm, Musgrave Park

UNBEATEN Ireland go into their St Patrick's weekend clash with Scotland chasing the win to clinch a first title – and Grand Slam – since 2019.

Richie Murphy's side will be welcomed by a soldout Musgrave Park and have put themselves in a strong position after four rounds, holding a threepoint lead over .

Ireland have made just one change as Aitzol King comes into the back three after scoring two tries off the bench against .

Ireland captain Reuben Crothers said: “We're always a one-game team. We're always just looking to the next game but obviously now we're gunning for the Grand Slam.

“It's hard to find better supporters than the ones at Musgrave Park. The Cork crowd are unbelievable for us there. Getting this chance to go for glory in front of that crowd will be amazing.”

Last time out Ireland ran in five tries to topple reigning champions England 42-27 at StoneX after recovering from a slow start.

Ireland's attack has been formidable all tournament, scoring 151 points in their four games, and head coach Murphy insists his side won't alter their approach going into the game against bottom side Scotland who are yet to pick up a win.

“We've been very much focusing on making sure our bits and pieces are right. I don't think the lads are going to go away from that this week.

“Our job is to prepare the best we can for Scotland. Make sure we touch all the bases that we've been touching.

“There's a lot of things from that England game that we can definitely do a bit better and we're looking forward to that.”

Scotland make just one change from last week's defeat to as hooker Patrick Harrison replaces Gregor Hiddleston.

Head coach Kenny Murray said: “Ireland will be a challenge for us and there were some positives to take from our performance against Italy. If we convert our chances we can end the tournament on a high.”
