BATH's temporary stands can remain in place for another three years while they draw up plans for a permanent stadium.
The club cited the pandemic and legal issues for the delay and reaffirmed its commitment to redevelop the stadium as soon as possible. The club had requested another four years but was given until May 2025 by the council.
The current capacity is 14,509 but the club wants to build a stadium with 18,000 seats. Bath Rugby said: “We reaffirm our commitment to bringing forward our plans for a permanent Stadium for Bath as soon as possible.”
Newcastle's South Africa scrum-half Louis Schreuder will move to The Rec next season.
Schreuder, 31, who won his solitary cap against Wales in 2017, joined Newcastle last season from Super Rugby's Sharks. He has also had spells at Toulon, Southern Kings and Stormers.
Bath have not disclosed the length of his contract.
