It is falling-off-a-log easy to poke fun at the battalions of exrugby professionals who earn a living – or, in the grand tradition of Tory MPs, second livings – pontificating about the game they once played rather well for the benefit of those who couldn’t play for toffee. “Old whines in old bottles,” is the common complaint. “These people have nothing to say…and say it.”
