ELI Snyman found himself in Leicester after impressing at their East Midlands rivals Northampton.
The Zimbabwean second row was playing for Treviso against the Saints in the Champions Cup at the start of 2020 and among the spectators was Steve Borthwick, who was then planning his final campaign as England’s forwards coach.
A week after the encounter at Franklin’s Gardens, Borthwick was appointed the Tigers’ head coach, starting work that July. He remembered Snyman and the 25-yearold was a close season signing from Treviso having joined the Italian side...
